MeitY and MHI Launch Joint Initiative to Advance Indigenous EV Technologies

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) announced a Joint Call for Proposals to boost the development of indigenous electric vehicle (EV) sub-systems. At the launch event in New Delhi, MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan highlighted the role of industry, academia, and innovators in advancing homegrown EV technology.

This initiative aims to support key areas, including EV chargers, battery management, telematics, and safety systems, with MeitY providing financial backing and MHI offering standardization and testing support. Targeting universities, startups, and research institutions, the project aligns with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, aiming to strengthen India’s EV ecosystem and encourage sustainable mobility solutions.
