India AI Mission Advances Responsible AI with Eight New Projects

The IndiaAI Mission has selected eight projects focused on fostering Safe and Trusted AI, advancing India’s leadership in responsible AI development. Selected under a recent Expression of Interest (EoI) initiative, these projects aim to create indigenous tools and frameworks, establishing guidelines for ethical, transparent, and trustworthy AI applications.

Key themes include AI bias mitigation, machine unlearning, privacy enhancements, synthetic data generation, and algorithm auditing, all crucial for ethical AI development. IndiaAI’s mission supports advancing these technologies with tools tailored to India’s unique needs, using Indian datasets to ensure safe AI deployment.

With over 2,000 proposals submitted from top institutions, startups, and research organizations, a multi-stakeholder committee selected eight projects that best meet India’s vision for AI safety and transparency. This initiative aligns with India’s Digital India goals, strengthening technological self-reliance while promoting inclusive AI solutions for society.
