MeitY and MHI Launch Joint Call to Boost Indigenous EV Sub-Systems Development

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), unveiled a joint call for proposals aimed at advancing indigenous Electric Vehicle (EV) sub-systems. Announced at Electronics Niketan, New Delhi, the initiative seeks to bolster India’s EV ecosystem and promote the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat in electric mobility.
MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan emphasized the role of innovators, researchers, and industry in developing cutting-edge indigenous EV technologies. Additional Secretary, MHI, Dr. Hanif Qureshi highlighted that the initiative will enhance India’s capabilities in EV innovation.
The focus areas include EV chargers, battery management systems, telematics, and functional safety. Selected proposals will receive funding from MeitY, with MHI providing standardization and testing support. This program aims to develop sub-systems with high commercialization potential, propelling India’s EV industry toward global leadership. Proposals can be submitted via the MeitY website.
